Kier Starmer & Justin Trudeau

The Typology of a GAE Tyrant

I was recently asked to put together a video looking at the apparent parallels between the government of Kier Starmer in the UK and the much older administration of Justin Trudeau in Canada. The video is featured on Academic Agent’s Youtube channel with his introduction. I put this together with some friends in the broader Red Ensign network a couple weeks ago, and wanted to include some brief thoughts here as well as the video for anyone who missed it.

In contrasting Trudeau to global leaders it’s striking how aware of local politics he is and how effective the Laurentian Elite’s have been at cultivating a media ecosystem. The 35% subsidy to Journalist salaries at “Qualifying News Organizations” and the large increases in funding at CBC/Radio-Canada combined with systematic attacks on Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Rebel News, as alternatives to the Canadian regime-media bubble are master-strokes. Similarly rewarding academia with a massive increase in student visas is a really innovative patronage and narrative control instrument you don’t see in the broader GAE network.

By contrast all the policies obviously drawn from the GAE network, whether it’s the class of temporary foreign workers he’s created, de-policing, or MAID, are all pretty obviously political liabilities for Trudeau locally; and have all been executed in ways that are relatively easy to reverse in the future. It’s an interesting question what Trudeau/The Laurentians get out of their enthusiastic support for GAE policies given that they are obviously extremely competent tyrants in their own right. This is a dynamic that I will be exploring further in my ongoing effort to contribute to the discourse in this space.
